Applegate proudly supports transparency in the food industry and the right to know what’s in the food we eat. That's why Applegate has advocated on Capitol Hill for mandatory GMO labeling legislation and provided financial support for labeling campaigns like Just Label It.
Applegate was disappointed with the law passed in 2016 that charged the United States Department of Agriculture to devise a labeling standard for bioengineered foods and made digital links, like a QR code, an option for labeling. We think adding another step for consumers to know what's in their food is the opposite of transparency. That's why we've committed to having all Applegate products third-party certified as non-GMO by the end of 2020.
